I’ve got some book recommendations today for I Know What You Did Last Summer fans! As a huge horror movie fan, with the IKWYDLS films as some of my favorites, I wanted to share book recommendations that capture the OG film’s vibe, especially now that there’s a new film in the franchise.

People To Follow by Olivia Worley
Buy The BookThis book is about a group of influencers who get sent to the middle of nowhere for a reality show. Arriving at their destination, they find themselves stranded, with no film crew in sight, and a killer among them. This book combines the first two I Know What You Did Last Summer films in a really fun way! Everyone’s hiding something, and the story takes place on a secluded island. Plus, with the influencer-based plot, it has a Gen Z feel, embodying the new film.

I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan Buy The BookIt goes without saying that I have to recommend the book that started everything. The movie, if you didn’t already know, is based on a novel with the same name. While their plots are somewhat similar, the book and movie differ quite a bit. It’s worth reading if you like classic YA suspense stories or want to read the original story.

One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus Buy The BookFive teens go to detention, but only four come out alive! These four teenagers are now suspects in a murder, and they’ve all got secrets they want to stay buried. And to top it off, someone’s threatening to spill all their secrets. It’s a quick, suspenseful teen thriller about four unlikely friends who’ll do anything to find a killer and protect their secrets. It’s got that IKWYDLS vibe with all the secrets and murder.

Seven Dirty Secrets by Natalie D. Richards Buy The BookIn this story, we follow Cleo, and on her eighteenth birthday she receives a very unusual gift — an invitation to a scavenger hunt. No one she knows claims to have sent the gift, and all the scavenger hunt clues point to her late ex-boyfriend, leading Cleo to suspect someone may know the truth about his death a year ago. This is a thriller full of twists and turns, with someone messing with Cleo, similar to how the killer in I Know What You Did Last Summer taunted Julie and her friends.
