Hi Book Lovers!
If you have similar music taste to me, then you’ve probably also been loving Olivia Rodrigo’s new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love! So, in classic me fashion, I had to pair some of the songs on the album with books!
Song: Stupid Song
Book: The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Why It Works: This is probably my favorite song off the album! It’s the one I’ve had on repeat ever since I heard it. The song is all about wanting someone more than anything, more than even a song can describe. It seriously gives me Belly and Conrad vibes from The Summer I Turned Pretty!
Song: Honeybee
Book: Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
Why It Works: This is such a beautiful song about loving someone so much that you can’t bear the thought of them not being yours. If you’ve read Divine Rivals, then you know Iris and Rowan fit this song so well. They went through so much in the book and still never gave up on being together.

Song: Maggots For Brains
Book: New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
Why It Works: I initially had a different book paired with this song, but every time I heard the line, “And sometimes, at a low point, I even wish for a tragedy. ’Cause I know he’d come over and take real good care of me,” I instantly thought of New Moon. If you’ve read the Twilight saga, then you know in this book Bella was really going through it without Edward and would do some pretty dangerous things to get his attention.

Book: Business Casual (Lovelight) by B.K. Borison
Why It Works: Now this song was a little tricky to pair with a book, but I feel like Charlie and Nova’s relationship in Business Casual works really well with the lyrics, especially since their relationship started off as a friends-with-benefits situation but turned into so much more.
Song: Purple
Book: One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
Why It Works: This song is all about young love becoming all-consuming to the point where you lose yourself in it. For me, that meaning is very similar to One Last Stop, which follows two women who meet and fall for each other despite having major obstacles in their way. Even so, they still try to make it work because they become so deeply entangled in each other.
