About The Book
College senior Alix Summerlin and her friends are ready for an epic party weekend. The plan? When festivalgoers start disappearing and Kade—a dangerously hot stranger—warns her to get out while she still can, Alix realizes something is very wrong. By the time night falls, the town is under siege by bloodthirsty vampires, and the festival has become a hunting ground.
With her sweet-but-steely ex-boyfriend Logan and the tall, dark, and mysterious Kade by her side, Alix must fight to survive and uncover the truth behind the town’s dark curse. But Kade has secrets of his own, and trusting the wrong person could be her last mistake. The stakes have never been higher as Alix finds herself in a deadly game of survival—with the fate of the world on the line.

“These vampires aren’t the stuff of romance, and they don’t sparkle in the sun.”
My Thoughts
Unfortunately, this book was a letdown. The premise of a vampire horror set at a music festival sounded so intriguing, but the execution just wasn’t well done, in my opinion. My biggest issue with the story was that the main female character, Alix, was very unlikable. She was stuck-up, treated people as though they were below her, and was shallow, with serious commitment issues. You would think that throughout the story the female protagonist would have had some type of growth; however, from my perspective, she didn’t really change much at all.
I honestly have no idea how the male love interest fell for her with such an unlikable personality. However, the romance plot in general was very insta-lovey, and there was no real connection between Alix and her love interest. Also, the story as a whole wasn’t as entertaining as I was hoping and didn’t really hold my attention.
Overall, I had more of a negative than positive reading experience. I might have enjoyed it more if the main female character’s personality had not driven me insane. I really struggled with her snotty internal monologue throughout the book. Sadly, this is not a book I will remember, recommend, or reread.
