My Thoughts
This was a really fun YA story with a fake dating and Airbnb plotline. I loved that the FMC, Aubrey, did glassblowing because that’s a career path that isn’t really talked about very often in books. I also felt like the storyline of Aubrey renting out her house to afford a glassblowing fellowship worked really well alongside the fake dating plot between her and her best friend, Henry.
Speaking of the romance between Aubrey and Henry, the chemistry between them was there from the start, and I was rooting for them the entire time. I especially enjoyed the friends-to-lovers dynamic, and I thought the fake dating element added a really fun layer to their relationship. And let me just say, there was a moment in the book between them after eating some very specific kind of brownies that I found super cute and made me giggle.
Even though this is a romance book, there was so much more to it than just that. Aubrey goes through a lot of character growth throughout the story and starts to realize that maybe her dreams weren’t exactly what she thought they were. I also liked that, although this was a YA story, the characters didn’t feel immature.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy friends-to-lovers fake dating romances. I was thoroughly engaged the entire time I was reading, and my only real critique is that the book might have been a little longer than necessary. Still, I definitely enjoyed it.
