Summer 2025 Book Sale | My Top Picks

Hi Friends,
Once again, Amazon is having their Buy One, Get One 50% Off book sale. Just like in the past, I’m going to share the books I’d definitely recommend picking up while they’re part of this deal. Since June is my birthday month, I’m actually trying not to buy any books, so I won’t be participating in the sale, but I still wanted to give you my recommendations.

Silver Elite by Dani Francis
This is the first book in a dystopian romance series, so it’s definitely giving Hunger Games and Divergent era vibes. There’s been a lot of talk in the book community about this one, but most of it is about the author, not the book itself. From what I’ve heard, the book is amazing and getting great reviews. Since it’s on sale, I’d definitely recommend grabbing it if you’ve been curious about the hype.

One Golden Summer by Carly Fortune
It’s summertime, so what’s better than a summer romance? This one seems like it has a little more depth than your typical romcom, which I love. I believe it’s a friends-to-lovers story and follows Alice, who spends the summer with her Nan at a lakeside cottage, just like they did one summer when she was a teenager. She ends up connecting with a man named Charlie, who happened to be the subject of a photo she took all those summers ago.

Summer Romance by Annabelle Monaghan
I haven’t read anything by this author before, but I’ve heard she writes closed-door romances that are perfect for summer. This book sounds like a quick and easy seasonal read. It follows a single mom who’s just trying to get her messy life back on track and I’m always here for that kind of story.

Hide by Kiersten White
This is a thriller I’ve been dying to read. It sounds like the perfect summer suspense novel. It’s set in an abandoned amusement park and centers around a competition. I love throwing a thriller into my summer reading because it breaks up all the romances and gives me those Summerween vibes.

Happy Place by Emily Henry
I definitely don’t need another copy, but if I were recommending just one amazing summer read to grab during the sale, it would be this one. I truly think you need to be in your late 20s to early 30s to fully appreciate it. It’s a wonderful second-chance romance with strong themes of friendship and growing up. I loved it.

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams
Obviously, the title screams perfect June read. I’ve been so intrigued by this one, and if I were shopping the sale, this would be in my cart. I’ve heard nothing but good things. It follows two writers who get a second chance at love, and it’s set in New York City, basically the ultimate summer romance setting.

Camp Foxenwood Readathon | Summer 2025

Hi Friends,
I’ve mentioned on the blog before that I’m part of Alexandra Roselyn’s Patreon. There are many benefits to being a member of her Patreon, but my favorite is the exclusive readathons. This summer we’re doing a camp-inspired one that starts June 9th and doesn’t end until the middle of July. While I can’t share the different bingo boards for the readathon, I will be sharing the prompts I’ll be doing. However, I’m only going to be participating in the readathon for the month of June!

Set In A Different World: Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
Honestly, I read the first book in this cozy, low-stakes fantasy series, and I didn’t love it as much as I hoped I would. However, I’ve been wanting to pick up the second book, which is actually a prequel story. So, this prompt gives me the perfect reason to finally read it.

5 Star Prediction: A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal
If you’ve seen my June TBR, then you might remember seeing this book on there. I’ve been wanting to read this fantasy since it came out because the plot seems like something I would absolutely love. I truly think this could be a 5-star—possibly 6-star—read for me!

High Stakes: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This is such a beloved fantasy book that I can’t wait to reread. The first time I read it was back in 2019, and I didn’t even have my blog then, so I never reviewed it on here. I’d love to reread the book and see if it still lives up to my original 5-star rating.

Any Fantasy: Fearless by Lauren Roberts
This is another book on my monthly TBR. I’m nervous about reading it because this series hasn’t been a favorite of mine, yet it’s the final book in the trilogy, and I’ll be happy to finally complete it. I just hope it doesn’t put me in a reading slump.

Free Space: Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher
I need as many short books as possible on this TBR, so for the free space, I decided a fantasy fairy-tale retelling novella would be the smart choice. I’ve only read one other book by this author, but I really enjoyed it, and I hope that’s the case here too.

Found Family: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
This is the second book in The Hunger Games series. I don’t think I’m stretching the prompt because from my research, it says the found family trope plays a big role in this book. I’m hoping that’s true. However, correct me in the comments if it isn’t, and I’ll swap it out for a different book.

Ocean on the Cover: Vengeance of the Pirate Queen by Tricia Levenseller
This is the third and final book in The Daughter of the Pirate King trilogy. I’ve had very different opinions about the first two books, but I love Tricia Levenseller’s writing. So, whether I end up enjoying it or not, I at least know it’ll likely be an easy read.

New Release: Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven
This is a 2025 new release that I’ve been wanting to read. I haven’t heard anyone talking about it yet, but the plot sounds incredible. I’m not sure if it’s the start of a series or a standalone fantasy, but either way, I’m excited to give it a try.

Favorite Fantasy Trope: The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King by Carissa Broadbent
This book includes enemies-to-lovers and vampires—two of my favorite tropes. I’m being a bit ambitious putting such a long book on the TBR, but I flew through the first book in this series, so I suspect this one will be a quick read too.

My Rating

I’d heard so much about ‘Beach Read’ by Emily Henry before picking it up, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of her most popular books. I initially thought it was an enemies-to-lovers story, but it’s more of an opposites-attract situation, which was a pleasant surprise.

What really caught me off guard was the depth of the main character, January. I went into the book expecting a light and fluffy rom-com, but her struggles added an unexpected heaviness to the story. These layers made her character much more relatable and interesting to follow.

The interactions between January and Augustus, the male lead, were a highlight for me. Their chemistry felt genuine, not just driven by witty banter, which made their connection feel authentic. Their agreement to write books in each other’s genres was a fun twist, and I loved their research outings together. You could feel their attraction build gradually, rather than being an instant connection, which made it even more satisfying.

I appreciated how the characters learned to open up to each other while still dealing with their personal issues independently. This gave their relationship a healthy dynamic, avoiding the trap of a rebound or grief-driven romance. I also liked how they pushed each other out of their comfort zones, not just in their writing but in their personal growth.

“People were complicated. They weren’t math problems; they were collections of feelings and decisions and dumb luck.”

The only part that left me conflicted was how January’s issues with her dad were resolved. While I didn’t dislike the direction it took, I wasn’t a fan of it either. That said, I understand it was a complicated and messy situation, so I get that it isn’t something that can be easily resolved. However, it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the story.

The writing was fantastic, and I’m realizing that I might just be an Emily Henry fan. While her style isn’t necessarily groundbreaking, it’s impressive to learn that she didn’t even consider herself a romance writer when she wrote this book. Knowing she primarily wrote young adult books before this showcases just how talented she is.

Overall, I can see why this book gets so much hype, and for once, I actually agree with it. I know—shocker! If you’re looking for a fun romance that still touches on deeper topics, this is a great pick. It’s the perfect beach read—pun intended—that you can easily devour in a day. Also, if I had to rate this book on a spice scale, I would say it’s probably a 2 out of 5, so the sexy scenes aren’t that intense.

2024 Summer Olympics | Book Recommendations

Hi Friends,
It is Olympic season! So, I thought I would give you three book recommendations to help you get into the summer Olympics spirit. Although all these books have a sports-focused story, one of them isn’t a summer Olympics sport and is actually considered more of an art. Still, each book has an element that fits the 2024 Olympics.

Fence by C. S. Pacat, illustrated by Johanna the Mad
This is a graphic novel series about an elite high school fencing team. The plot follows Nicholas Cox, the illegitimate son of a U.S. Olympic fencing champion. When Nicholas receives a scholarship to the elite boys’ school, Kings Row, he knows that being on their fencing team will help him achieve his goal of becoming a champion fencer. Not only are the volumes in the series fast reads, but they also clearly have an Olympic and competition theme.

Burnout by Rebecca Jenshak
This sports romance follows Knox, a tattooed motocross rider, and Avery, a gymnast. When Knox’s bad reputation lands him in a tight spot, the only person who can help him is Avery, an Olympic medalist. The book not only captures those summer Olympic vibes but also features a hot bad boy, spice, witty banter, and is the first installment in the Holland Brothers series. Honestly, what more could a romance reader want?

Kisses And Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau
This book takes place in Paris, which just so happens to be where the summer 2024 Olympics will be held. It follows an American ballerina who is spending the summer at a prestigious ballet school, knowing it will get her one step closer to becoming a professional ballerina. But instead of dancing her way through Paris, she pliés right into a cute French boy. Their meeting might just be fate, but it might also be a beautiful distraction.

Did I Read My 2023 Anticipated Releases?

Hi Friends,
For day 2 of Bookmas, I am going to be taking a look back at my most anticipated book releases of 2023. I have done 4 anticipated releases post this year, so I am hoping that I have at least read half of the books that I was excited for this year. If not, I am going to try and make it a priority to read some of them before the year is over.

I did a post talking about my most anticipated YA romances, and I am happy to say that I read 3 out of the five books I mentioned in that post. I read ‘Never Vacation with Your Ex’, ‘Margo Zimmerman Gets the Girl’ and ‘Borrow My Heart.’ But, I wasn’t able to pick up ‘Promposal’ and I completely forgot about ‘The Borrow a Boyfriend Club.’ However, I am still interested in both of those books.

My next release post was talking about 2023 summer books. I read 5 of the books in that post, which were ‘The Only One Left,’ ‘The Seven Year Slip,’ ‘One of Us Is Back,’ ‘Delicate Condition,’ and ‘Foxglove.’ And, all of these books were between 4 and 5 stars for me. As for the ones I didn’t read we have ‘Summer Rental,’ ‘Business or Pleasure,’ and ‘Ghosted: A Northanger Abbey.’ All of those books still sound so good. There were two other books in this post, ‘The Trap‘ and ‘Good Bad Girl‘ that I didn’t read, but started. And, since putting down ‘Good Bad Girl’, I haven’t heard the greatest thing about it, so it might be a DNF.

Moving on to a post I did recently, my October anticipated releases. I am going to keep this short and sweet by saying that I have yet to read any of the six books I mentioned. Still, I am very interested in all of them. Lastly, is my November book release post and, like October, I haven’t read any of these books. I might try and get to one out of six books in that post, which will most likely be ‘Iron Flame’ or ‘Betting On You.’

It doesn’t shock me that I did poorly in October and November, since I’m a mood reader and like to read certain books during those months. My Rating

This book was everything I wanted in a summertime young adult contemporary. The story follows Meredith, who returns to Martha’s Vineyard for the first time since her sister, Claire’s, death. Meredith and her family are there for her cousin’s wedding. But, things get complicated when Meredith connects with one of the groomsmen, Witt.

I loved the plot, because not only were we watching as Meredith and Witt fell for each other over the course of a week, the majority of the plot was about the characters engaging in a game of assassin. It was such an easy to read summertime story.

Although, the romance was super cute, it was a little insta-lovey. Can you really fall in love with someone in just a week? I am typically a hater when it comes to instant romance plots, yet this one didn’t bother me as much. I liked both Meredith and Witt’s personalities. Also, the romance really worked for me.

One of my favorite things about the book was how the author handled the grief aspect. Yes, loss and grief was a part of the story but there weren’t a ton of sad moments, and it felt more like a summer romance, than someone trying to get over a loss. I liked how the grief aspect was more subtle, and not an overwhelming part of the plot.

“Our time together was unraveling like a ribbon.”

Meredith went through a lot of character development throughout the book. It was interesting to see her character grow and change in just a week. I think it shows that everyday we can open our eyes to things we didn’t realize about ourselves, and what we want.

Of course there was a romance conflict close to the end of the book. But, the author didn’t make it cheesy, and it was resolved very maturely. Personally, I didn’t find the characters to actually be immature at all, which I found refreshing in a young adult book.

Overall, I had a great time reading this book, and recommend it as a great summer read. The ending was nice, and I liked how we got an epilogue. I’m for sure interested in reading more by K.L. Walther in the near future.

Summer Vibes // Book Tag

Summer is almost over! Although I am a June baby, summer is one of my least favorable seasons. However, before I say goodbye to summertime, I wanted to do a summer book tag. I found the ‘Summers Vibe’ tag on the blog ‘Confessions of a Serial Reader.’ It seemed like just the tag I was looking for, and the perfect bookish way to say farewell to summer.

Honestly, the first book to come to mind was ‘The Island’ by Natasha Preston. This book is a YA thriller about an amusement park and influencers on a remote island. Although it is a thriller, it does have tropical vibes.


Actually, I dnfed this book, but it’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’ by Maggie Knox. I wanted to like this book, so much, but I could not get into it. However, if you are a fan of musical competition shows, think American Idol and forced proximity romance then give it a read.


I’m going to go with ‘You Shouldn’t Have Come’ by Jeneva Rose, because this book is all about secrets. This is a decent adult thriller with an ending twist that I do not think most readers will see coming.


I think ‘The Summer of Broken Rules’ is a perfect beach read. The Martha’s Vineyard setting will put you in a summer mood. In addition, I loved the fact that the book was more than just a light fluffy romance.


So, I am going to say that smutty books have become guilty pleasures of mine. I guess the genre is technically called Erotic Romance, but I have been enjoying dabbling in it.


I saw someone else mentioning this book in their post, and I have to agree that the friend group in ‘One of Us Is Back’ by Karen McManus is amazing. Throughout the entire ‘One Of Us’ trilogy this group of unlikely friends have become each others ride-or-die, which I love. It is almost as if this thriller series had an underlying found family element.

I loved the adventure aspect of the ‘Daughter of the Pirate King’ by Tricia Levenseller. As you can tell from the title, this is a pirate book, and I loved very second of it. There is a badass female main character, romance, and dangerous quest. It does not get any better than that!


I wanted to like Holly Jackson’s ‘Five Survive‘ considering how I feel about ‘As Good As Dead.’ Unfortunately, for me, it was my biggest reading disappointment of the year so far.

What else would I choose but a lighthearted contemporary? So, I’d say that ‘The Do-Over’ by Lynn Painter is definitely a fluffy YA romance. It is a Valentine’s Day read that has a ground-hogs day trope twist to it.

There were probably way too many characters I could have gone with for this question, but I decided to go with Jade from ‘Lying In The Deep’ by Diana Urban. She was such an annoying main character and got on my nerves the entire time I read the book.

5 Summertime Films // Toss-Up Tuesday

Fall is just around the corner, which means that it’s your last chance to watch some summer movies. Although I’m much more of an autumn and winter girl myself, I thought I’d share some summer films you should check out before the season changes!

There’s Someone Inside Your House (Netflix)
“The graduating class at Osborne High is being targeted by a masked assailant, intent on exposing the darkest secret of each victim, and only a group of misfit outsiders can stop the killings.”

This is a teen thriller based on the Stephanie Perkins book of the same name. I personally wasn’t a fan of the book (read my review) but I think the film seems like it would be a good summer slasher flick.

Love and Gelato (Netflix)
“Lina makes a promise to her sick mother that she’ll spend the summer before college in Rome, where she falls for the city, the people – and the “gelato”.”

Yep, another book-to-movie adaptation, courtesy of Netflix. I read this book as well (see my review), but the movie looks quite different than the book. However, if you separate the two from each other, then you’ll get a fun summertime teen movie.

Moonshot (HBO Max)
“This romantic comedy with a twist follows two college students as they join forces in order to be reunited with their significant others, embarking on a lively journey that takes them wildly off course.”

This is a cute movie that is all about finding love in space. The film is one of those feel good teen flicks that is perfect for a summer date night. Or, just a good watch for a summer night in.

Teen Beach Movie (Disney+)
“Two surfing lovers, whose doomed relationship is nearing to a close, find themselves swept into a dimension-traversing wave that sends them into a beach movie musical in the 60’s.”

If you like summer and musicals, then this one is for you. It’s Pleasantville meets Grease, but more kid friendly. This film gives off all those summer vibes that you might be looking for, before the season ends.

Secret Headquarters (Paramount+)
“While hanging out after school, Charlie and his friends discover the headquarters of the world’s most powerful superhero hidden beneath his home. When villains attack, they must team up to defend the headquarters and save the world.”

This film is essentially a new twist on the Spy Kids movie. There’s action, comedy, and a superhero element. Honestly, it’s a great pick for a summertime family movie night.

Summer Mixtape 2022 | Readathon Wrap Up

Hi Friends,
I wanted to do a Mixtapeathon wrap-up, and share what I read. If you haven’t seen my August TBR, which was essentially my Summer Mixtape TBR, then let me give you a brief rundown. This is a summer readathon created by some lovely Booktubers. The readathon ran from August 1st – 14th, and there were 5 main reading prompts. I am happy to say that I completed all the prompts! However, once the readathon started, I decided to change my TBR up a bit.

Here Comes the Sun – read a book with nature on the cover

Originally, I was going to read ‘Lost in the Never Woods‘ by Aiden Thomas, but I realized about 12% into the book that I might just not be a fan of Peter Pan retellings. So, I decided to opt for a failsafe book, which was ‘Maybe This Time‘ by Kasie West.

“Beloved author Kasie West brings her signature witty banter and rom-com fun to a bold, fresh format. Think Four Weddings and a Funeral for YA.”

Blame It On The Weatherman – read an unseasonal read

My initial pick for this prompt was ‘The Witchery‘ by S. Isabelle, but I wasn’t feeling the audiobook. So, I was very lucky that my hold for ‘Long Live The Pumpkin Queen‘ by Shea Ernshaw came in on Libby. This book took me a while, but was one of my most anticipated books of the year.

“Hear Sally’s story in this young adult sequel to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas written by New York Times bestselling author Shea Ernshaw.”

Cake By The Ocean – read a book involving food/read a spicy book

Once again, instead of going with my first book choice, ‘With the Fire on High‘ by Elizabeth Acevedo, I read ‘A Taste for Love‘ by Jennifer Yen. Yes, I went with a food related book, because spicy books aren’t really my thing.

“For fans of Jenny Han, Jane Austen, and The Great British Baking Show, A Taste for Love is a delicious rom-com about first love, familial expectations, and making the perfect bao.”

We’re Going To Ibiza – read a book set in another country

I did end up reading ‘Hot British Boyfriend‘ by Kristy Boyce, and you are certainly going to want to read my review of this book. Let’s just say I have a lot of things to say about it.

“This enchanting debut teen romance novel, which follows one girl across the Atlantic in a quest to find adventure, love (preferably with a guy with a cute accent), and maybe even herself, is perfect for fans of Kasie West and Stephanie Perkins.”

Mixtape – pick a book based on your favourite summer bop/free choice

Finally, I read ‘The Girl From The Sea‘ by Molly Ostertag, which was a very short read. When it comes to readathons, shorter books are the way to go, so I am glad I had this on my TBR.

“In what will prove to be the most important summer of her life so far, Anna learns about love, herself, and the magic that an ordinary summer can bring.”

In total, I read 1554 pages and completed all the prompts! I didn’t complete any of the non-reading prompts, but that is okay by me.
